It's not about going green, in fact if I hear that term one more time I just might explode. It's about going back to what's natural--growing a garden, eating healthy, using less chemicals, reducing the crap we buy and throw away. Making a change for the better, and doing it slowly so it might actually last. Join us.

Use Toothpaste
Do you have somewhere in your house that your kid wrote pencil all over?
I do.
Use toothpaste.
I think it works for pen and maybe marker as well.
Fantastic right?

Dirty Dozen
You've heard of the dirty dozen right? If not--they are the 12 vegetables/fruits that retain more pesticides than others. So it is suggested that when you consume those--that you buy organic. I found a chart here that tells you about the dirty dozen, and then also the other fruits/vegetables that retain the least pesticides and are ok to purchase non-organic.

It's a Sunscreen Summer
Sun screens always seem so chemical to me. So if you are looking for something that is not so harsh, but still works click to see A LIST OF THE SAFEST SUNSCREENS.
Look HERE for tips on SunScreen--I thought it was helpful.
The site had other articles that were very informative. Take some time to look around.
Happy swimming!

Farming
The more I learn about going natural--one thing that is brought up a great deal is farming. And how the government is subsidizing corn and soy out the wazoo. And how it is not good for our country. Some farming is ruining soil and damaging surrounding lands. I believe there are two sides to every story, this is one side. But the more I learn, the more I realize that the government could be doing so many other things to ensure Americas farmlands stay healthy and able to feed it's own citizens. This is worth the watch. Or you can link directly to it HERE.

Furniture Polish
Yes! Use Olive oil to polish your furniture. I hate that spray stuff from the store--it stinks up my house and as I spray it I just imagine it coating my lungs like it's coating the wood.
Yuck.
So just mix 2 parts olive oil with 1 part lemon juice. Spray, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe with a soft cloth.
I'm off to try it.

Locally Grown
Okay, now I REALLY want to go to Whole Foods. They have a section on locally grown items that details the farms/companies their food comes from. Check IT.

Infertility
Absolutely fascinating link. It has a lot of the things that i think about in it. Like anti-bacterial soap which I don't use, and plastics I'm trying to rid my house of.
READ IT! Even if you are not concerned about infertility. It still has great info.
